This is the first "Ceramic Village with a Story" set I've ever made. These houses fit together like a puzzle, and show different seasons based on what angle you are looking at them from. The front shows scenes of summer with a flower, butterflies a sunshine and dragonfly. The right side of the village shows autumnal scenes with an owl and fall foliage and a harvest moon. The back shows winter with clouds and tiny snow flakes, and the left side shows spring with hearts, bees and new grass.

I've never made a set like this, and to tell the "story" I had to make this larger than my standard houses. When put together, this Seasons village measures 5 1/2 inches wide. The tallest house with the butterflies is 3 1/2 inches tall. These are made from solid stoneware clay, and fired at cone 6. I use non-toxic underglazes for color and a non-toxic clear glaze finish.

What would one do with a village of clay houses that tells a story? This would be a wonderful artistic gift for anyone who likes nature and handmade things! People often set these on a windowsill where they say looking at them brings a smile to their face! Some folks set them up at their kitchen table as part of a centerpiece. I could see this in a Waldorf inspired home!

These will be carefully packaged in upcycled bubble wrap.

Materials - Stoneware Clay, Nontoxic Glaze

All of my ceramics are handmade by me in Columbia, MO using nontoxic materials.

Based in Columbia, Missouri, I am a small batch potter! I work at my local neighborhood studio and work in ceramics as often as I can until my summer job as a wedding photographer starts up! If you are local to Columbia, feel free to reach out. Ceramics are such a tactile thing, and I'm always happy to show my work in person if possible! ;)
